    Rubbing marks on tire?

    I have noticed some rub marks on my left rear tire. I can't figure out where it's coming from. It has been happening for a while now and there's no actual damage to the tire, so it must be something pretty mild, but I'd like to find out what it is. Left rear only - the right rear doesn't have this.

    I can feel a slight protrusion on the inner fender, but I see no signs of wear on the paint which I'd expect to see if it was touching there.

    Wheel is 18x10 et25 and tire is 275/35-18

    Any ideas?

    The tire is touching the inner rear fender under compression when entering a driveway. It is probably a combination of the tire and wheel setup and more weight on the driver's side.

      Thats quite minor. I'd keep an eye on it, but with that much gap I wouldn't expect the problem to grow (assuming there is no suspension drift). I see far worse in track student cars going through a Karussell.

        Interesting! The driveway thing makes sense. I am going to take a look and try to see what it might be touching.

        Agreed, it's very minor. Clearly not damaging anything, but it does look a little weird.

          Static ride height? Camber & toe? I also have 275 ps4s (tho brands differ) on 10"et25, but I run 3mm spacer and I get the slightest rubbing. Mine's towards the rear I think partially because of toe in.

          10"et25 with 275 tire and no spacers shouldn't rub, so that's why I'm wondering about camber/toe at static height.

            It should be stock alignment settings, but I haven't checked in a while tbh.

              Like I mentioned in another thread, I like 550lb rear springs, but unless they're 7" tall, and you're not too low, I think they allow the car to squat too much, which also allows more toe in as camber decreases further. So maybe there's too much movement back there, allowing rubbing? Since a 10" wheel with 275 doesn't leave a lot of tolerance.

                I am running 650 springs now. I think it might have to do with my bump stop position since I did shorten them.

                  I'd check your toe setting.

                  Also there is a stud on the inside of the fender well where the rear bumper is secured. May need to grind it down a bit.
