I was speaking with the previous owner of my car this past weekend, giving some updates on what has been done and planned projects and he brought up something I wanted to ask the boards here.
Before I purchased the car he had taken it into an indy shop for an oil change, which was 16-miles from his house. He drove the car back with no issues but like many E46 M3 owners, he constantly checks the dipstick. Well when he checked it, it was over filled with oil. He ended up draining the extra amount and that came out to a little over a quart. I have to assume the car had about 7 quarts of oil for those 16 miles that he was driving.
Reason why I'm asking is because I took the car for a little spirited driving through Calaveras this weekend and when I parked it for some photo's, I noticed what looks like thin vapors coming from the exhaust tips. They weren't the classic thick white (coolant) or blue (oil) but it was more white if anything and dissipated quickly. What are the problems associated with filling up the S54 with too much oil and driving for about ~16 miles one way?
