    New Key fob help

    Hey Guys, I only have one Key for my M3, and it’s not looking so good. Im looking to get a new one before this one brakes.
    What is the best way to do this?
    Amazon and eBay, both sells the key fob. They are cheap.
    I didn’t buy yet. Not sure if it will work. I know they have to be cut and programmed.
    Can any locksmith program it, or I need to do this at the dealer only?
    If you have a link of a key that you bought and had no problem with, please let me know!

    I went the route of getting my OEM key duplicated. It was a place in KY, IIRC, you have to show proof of ownership (title/registration/driver's license pic), but it was seamless, and it worked as soon as programmed, which is a piece of cake. That said, it was ten-ish years ago and was ~$180. Who knows now...

      You can buy the AK90+ programmer, or find lock smith that offer to program the new key.
      This key worked for me: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124829976652
      But I don't use the remote control buttons much so I can't comment on this feature.

        Just called BMW, they charge $230 for a new key. This is insane! It’s just a key lol….
        can I get an OEM key from another M3, and just reprogram it?

          Yes, you can buy a nice used key from junk yard ebay and program it to your car EWS file. But then you need to fill in the cut teeth/grooves and then cut it to your key lock.

          Or transfer the junk yard key's circuit board to the bad key.
