Why Do People Use Non-BMW Roundels on Wheels?

Whether or not the wheel is OEM or not, anything other than the BMW rounded/symbol in the center looks cheap and misplaced.

    Discuss.

If you pay big bucks for BBS or Volk etc, putting a BMW roundel on them makes them look like you’re trying to cover up a knockoff, show off those branded center caps! IMO of coarse.

I think most aftermarket wheels cheapen the look of an e46. But if I paid $$$ on bbs/volk wheels, it’ll have bbs/volk caps

This is funny to me because I just bought the IND distribution floating roundels for when I finally get my 19” forged polished 67’s redone. They might see the car, might not.

All my cars wear period and marque correct center caps no matter who made the wheels, actually. It’s just a me thing. They’re rolling restorations with slight mods, not rolling modmobiles with factory remnants. Could just be me.

My favorite is when I see something like LM reps with roundels.

In 2002 forum guys had a hard-on for ssr gt3s with roundels, my second favorite. Bonus points for alternate colored roundels. Extra bonus for cf vinyl roundels.

They are not. I had someone offer me $500 for five RE caps not long ago.

Plus 30 USD for shipping but yeah.

I did contemplate going with their carbon fiber roundels, $600 for a set lol
