What am i missing here? O2 Harness Grommet?

    Hello,

A while back I had my valve cover gasket and 02 sensors replaced on my car. I noticed spots on the ground and so i did an inspection and noticed my valve cover was seeping a bit.

Upon inspection with my camera i noticed that my 02 sensor and other cables that go though the engine beauty cover had a gaping hole and the wires tucked in behind it.
I'm pretty sure this is not how it should be installed. Looking at pics online there should be wire loom and a rubber grommet looking thing. I tried looking online for a part number in case I need to replace it

Seems like im missing the item to the right of the circled connector. Not from my car, grabbed it from FCP Euro valve cover DIY

Is it safe to drive this way?

Yes; however, you might want to route the cables through the hole rather than pinched against the beauty cover. The part number for the grommet can be found on the Z4M, but it seems to be discontinued. Some techs get lazy or forget to reinstall it.

Thanks for the response. Do you happen to have the part number? Im searching in Real OEM on Z4M cant seem to locate it.

Part number 21 - It would be nice to find a used one, but I have a feeling they get thrown out when someone forgets to reinstall it.

On another note im missing the nuts that hold down the wiring harness bracket that is on top of the valve cover. I know 8mm nuts, but can seem to find them on Real OEM. Pictured here on the DIY guide. Any idea what part number of specs of the nuts

The plastic beauty cover uses those studs to mount the cover with the chrome nuts. You don't need anything there.

There should be two shims (16 in the diagram) on those two studs. Doesn't look like they're on your sample photos but can't tell from the original real photo.

Shims are for the Euro models that have the plastic post O2 harness under the car.

Fair enough. Mine is a Euro. I was aware there were some differences in the harness under the cover but not about the shims.

Today I learned there's supposed to be a rubber grommet in that hole in the beauty cover. The magic of used cars.

If you route the post O2 sensors and EGT sensor for section 1 cats in the future, you can remove that plastic harness under the cover and use the shims.

I actually did--but didn't think to delete the plastic piece; I'll take another look. I had done the O2 prep work and my shop did the SSV1 install and I know the plastic part is still there; but then what would I do with the plastic piece...
