Car damage during transport, not noted on receipt

Hi, today i received my car after having it transported form San Antonio to the Bay area, the car looked fine when handed to me, albeit it was dirty from the road trip. So I checked it and did not noted anything. Then i proceeded to wash the car, and during detailing I found this.

I assume I am screwed, as I did not note this during delivery. I have send the images and an email to the company I hired, and will have to wait and see what they have to say. any one has experience with something like this and got helped?

What is even more frustrating is that they masked it, as they knew the grime, and color would make it difficult to spot with high chance for the driver to get away with it.

I agree that is a totally odd area for damage to occur. Did you ship open trailer? Did they take high resolution pictures before they loaded the car? If you didn't catch it when you took delivery then chances are you aren't going to get them to fix it. If you paid with credit card, then I would dispute it.

I paid the initial fee with cc, the rest was cash on delivery

it seems they tap/bump with the nose of the car, paint cracked and they sharpie it to mask the flaking paint. The bumper is not damaged, but the paint is screwed

Damn, that is BS. Yeah, they must have tapped the nose against another object/car. Was your car the first or last to be loaded? They might have had to move your car to get another one out and the guy either stalled it causing the car to lurch forward or rolled it too far into the back of another car. Claim it with them so they have the bumper repainted.

What company was this? Also did you ship open trailer? Its going to be hard to get them to cover it now. Find all their social media pages and threaten to post pictures of their shady practices if they do not take care of it.

This looks like your Z4M. Perhaps the grill area rubbed against a tow hitch of a SUV or something during transport? Maybe something that was inside the truck fell on it? regardless it doesnt matter at this point.

If you were given the full opportunity to thoroughly inspect it and accepted it - then read the acceptance document copy that you signed yourself. It defines the terms that you agreed to. That is the contract between you. They will maintain you were given the unrestricted opportunity to inspect and agreed that there was no damage, unless noted in writing.

Any chance it was there all along and the previous owner could be the culprit? Shipping companies usually have crazy insurance policies, no need to mask or cover up something if it happened on their watch. They'll just file a claim and move on with their lives.

It sounds like OP is moving, so he knew what it looked like before. The shipping company probably did not want to claim it on their insurance which would increase their premium, so they grabbed, what looks to be, generic touchup paint and covered it up.

I was who ship it to my self. So I new exactly how the car was when they took it

Here is the most annoying thing. I got. 2.2k quote to fix. Seem in the bay area they just default to and new bumper

Material costs and labor to "clean up" a used bumper usually get pretty close if not more than the cost of a new bumper, this is very common.

yes, I will probably strip it myself, and take it for painting. the frustrating part is my bumper was new, but also i can see they did not prep the bumper correctly and that is why the paint cracked and flaked. that said, after carefully reviewing the damage I see two tabs on the frame to which the grille mounts (left side of the rounder grille) broke, and that needs "weld" or "glue". I guess I am in for an expensive fix due to someone else's stupidity. if anyone has an advise on stripping the paint down please share, I mean, if I am in for a new bumper, I may as well try to prep it myself and then it will just be the cost of primer and paint.

JB Weld Plastic Bonder works great for bonding anything plastic.

Got it, I thought it was a purchase being shipped. I guess just go through your own insurance and let them duke it out with the carriers.
