My M3 is lowered using ST coilovers which are 6+ years old now. It's probably me getting older, in addition to aging suspension components, but how do I get a softer ride? I was thinking about upgrading to KW V2 coil overs with adjustable dampers, but I was wondering if there was anything other parts to replace to improve the ride quality. I don't think there are any other suspension parts that have been replaced on the car.

Softer ride quality - adjustable damper coilovers?

Typically, KW/ST setups are set at a ride height that is lower than optimal. Adjusting the height could gain some compliance back.
For a mainly street driven car, the lowest the car should be set at is CSL ride height. Any lower than that, the ride starts getting pretty harsh. The E46 M3 already has a pretty firm ride in stock form.
CSL ride height in case anyone is curious:
Measure from the bottom of the rim (19") to the top of the wheel arch through the centre of the wheel:
Factory Spec:
Front Target: 607mm +/-10mm
Rear Target: 602mm +/-10mmLast edited by Slideways; 06-22-2023, 02:06 PM.

Too low
stiffer spring rates
F/R bounce frequencies that result in pitch
solid top mounts
lack of rubber spring isolation
possibly subpar dampening2003 Imola Red M3 w/ SMG
