Hesitation/stumble at 6k rpm in third

I have had this problem for some time. It only happens in third gear under absolute full throttle at 6k RPM. Anything less than putting the pedal to the floor and it will not do it. It feels like the engine just cuts out for a second.

Coils and plugs are all new. Fuel filter is from 2015. The pump is original as far as I know.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I start replacing things?

    Mileage of the pump?
check for proper fuel pressure at real-time of the event if possible.

144,000 miles on it if it's original. I'll look into checking the pressure.

        Same issue at 5k RPMs.
Just replaced my fuel pump. No dice.
        Changing sparkplugs next

Sorry to revive an old thread. Did changing the plugs/coils help? If not, what was your resolution?

Sorry, cannot help. I never did anything after this, it has happened so rarely since that I forgot about it.

I reckon it has to do with VANOS wear just based on having eliminated the low hanging fruit. Mine is past due for a full overhaul now @ 170k. No real evidence though, mere conjecture.

Ok, thanks. I am planning to do the VANOS soon, so I'll see if that makes it go away.
