Do you folks use OEM or Genuine BMW for the VANOS gasket? Got burned by not going Genuine for the VCG. I don't want to make the same mistake with the VANOS gasket. I did search topic history, and I couldn't find anything, so I am thinking OEM is okay, but I want to make sure. Thanks!

Either should work. I usually opt for the genuine gasket as I don't like doing it twice. What I will recommend is get a tube of Toyota FIPG and smear a thin layer over the lower left corner. Its a common enough leak point that I advise everyone to just put some there just in case.Comment

Thanks for the tips everyone! Yeah, the genuine is running about $62 right now at GetBMWParts. OE is $8 to $10 right now. For future reference in case someone needs a data point.Comment
