Just trying to hold the record here but my Elring lasted less than 500km !!! Or just leaked from start…

I have a Victor Reinz in stock, are they any better or same junk?

Still using the same VR gasket for 7+ years, 40k miles, valve cover off for valve adjustments and VANOS. Just keep reusing. Some light sweating around the perimeter, but that is expected for an engine bay that has not had a full wash.

I've had a VR last even less, pretty much leaking from the 1st drive, albeit on another BMW, not an E46 M3.

          Worse.

We avoid ordering all VR products. They're a European doorman equivalent.

So, it's all BMW OE VCG seals/grommets for me from now on.

This may be true for some models, but definitely not for the S54. Here's how my scenario went:
            BMW gasket/grommets - No leak
Valve adjustment using Elring kit - Leak after a couple thousand miles.
Replaced it with a BMW gasket/grommets - No leak

KAIV who did my valve adjustment had done lots of these and he basically said that those Elring kits are a hit or miss. Some leak and others don't...not sure what's the correlation.
After hearing about the Elring failures, I would say the number of failed Elring gaskets are higher than non-failure ones. I ended up having to replace my OEM gasket again when I had my vanos redone. FCP lifetime guarantee for the win! It’s just a matter of having a gasket delivered which isn’t bent or has imperfections.
