E46 M3 rear wheel arches - not enough?

Just some Monday morning thoughts. I’ve been looking at the side profile of our m3 and the rear wheel arches, how do I say it, could be more pronounced? They look lacking compared to the front arches, which I get are bigger for functional purposes. I don’t want a wide body car, just something that looks more proportionate.

    What do you think?

I’ve never looked at my car and thought “yeah it needs to be wider.”

I understand the want but I’ve felt the e46 m3 nailed arch flare perfectly. Anything else for a street car, IMO, is going to look a little too try hard. My opinion has been known to stink so there ya go.

I think it has pretty much the perfect proportions, stock.

If anything, I feel like the stock front wheel size and offset are the reason the front fenders look extra big. The rear is more like how it should be.

I kinda have to agree that the rear fender flare is not as pronounced as the front flare. I wish it was flared out slightly more.

When fender flares get too wide, it looks cartoonish especially when looking from the rear. Prime example is the new M2. Not only does it look weird on a street car, but the car barely fits on the road with the wider wheel and tire package.

Just to clarify, I don’t want a wide body car either (as stated in the first post), but maybe the rear arch could have been raised up (i.e. start a little higher)?

This picture of what I believe is a stock car, minus the front bumper shows the difference between the front and rear arches.

Are you sure that is a stock front fender? Judging by the other mods such as the dual hole CSL bumper, those could be aftermarket wide fenders.
