    Rear Carbon Deck / Shelf

Here's the latest from one of my favorite German carbon sweat shop with an autoclave

My rear deck has turned to navy blue and I figured, while in there.. why not!

    Specifications:
    • Made in Germany
    • Pre-preg & autoclave carbon
    • Available in 1x1 or 2x2 weave pattern
    • Finished in 2 component clear coat
      • Available in high gloss or matte finish
    • Speaker cutouts are optional
    • 1 year warranty
I asked Rene to provide weights and I'm awaiting price. I'd highly recommend the matte finish to reduce glare, along with sound insulation for street cars.

I posted this on a Facebook and there's interest. Let me know what you guys think.

Would definitely be interested in a matte carbon version...

Shiny rear decks will give a nasty glare in the right conditions.

I was contemplating making one myself but I was worried about exceeding the Tg of the epoxy. Once the Tg is exceeded the epoxy becomes soft and you lose the hardness until it cools.

I have a carbon front reinforcement plate and the part where the header comes down close to the plate has turned yellow. The header is swaintech coated. It hasn't buckled or lost its shape. I'd be worried about using this on a car that sees a lot of stop and go and street driving.

Unlikely, but doesn’t hurt to ask…

if you could spec/modify this to cutout the area for a rear sunshade option, I’d be interested.

What’s the weight vs the factory shelf?

It will be the standard. This one was made for a track tool.

Correct! Matte is the go to.

The underside has heat insulation that should mitigate this.

That can be done, for sure. The rear speak cut out section comes with reinforcement and sound insulation applied underneath.

I asked René, I don't think there's much in it here.

Hope price isnt outrageous. Would consider this since I did factory radio delete already.

I would take one with the cutout for that (shade) and cutout for speakers.

Thanks for the calm and logical response! Too many vendors would get extremely defensive. 👍👍

I have aluminum tape near the hot spots and it seems to be working, it’s still slightly yellowish. I don’t think this is a huge concern and using an autoclave should raise the Tg.

It will be good! Under 1,000$ easily, the race part (no cut outs) will be closer to 600$ at group buy.

It's being done, we'll also add sound insulation.

Ah! I want to run this in my car, if it sucks - it sucks! You've always been constructive with your feedback - it's helpful!

Perfect - lmk when i can purchase, given the cutouts/less material, will it run at a discount to the “full” shelf?
