Clutch Slave Failure - Damage control

Clutch slave seal failed, resulting in brake fluid getting inside the bell housing, as well as on most of the underside of the car. Brake fluid is corrosive, so I want to clean it up but does it make sense to dump water into the bell housing to rinse off the remnants of the fluid?

Brake fluid is only damaging to paint, right?

I would just rinse the exposed fluid. It shouldn't damage any metal parts. You probably risk doing more damage by flooding your clutch with water.
