M3 Stablemates: What else do you have in the garage?

    I've been wanting to own a 991.2 GT3 ever since driving a friends in the mountains 4 years ago, finally bought one this past weekend.
    Variety is the spice of life though the E46 holds its own and will still be seeing a good amt of mileage. For me the E46 is the quintessential do everything FR NA drivers car experience, and the S54 w CSL box is so, so special. it feels like a glove. Won't sell.
    That said the current stable mate is a AP2 S2000 which is getting kicked out of the garage into the sideyard haha. I love that car, the purity of experience, and it keeps me honest, but it's already not getting much seat time...yet every time I think I'm going to sell it I drive it and immediately dismiss the idea.

    They're all RWD NA manual drivers cars but each offers a totally different experience - I love them all.

      There are some amazing cars in people's garages as shown in this thread. Mine is not as extensive as some but I'm okay with the cars occupying my garage.

      Pictured here is my 2004 M3 which I have had 16 years now and plan to keep this car forever. It is arguably one of the best European cars I have ever owned and driven. This is the car I truly enjoy cruising in and it gets noticed every time I take it out where I currently live.

      This is my 2008 Porsche 997 turbo, a car even better than my M3 that I have owned for 9 years now. This car, for me, is at a whole different level from my M3 and is pure pleasure to own and drive. Both of these cars are manual transmission and are so much fun to row through the gears!

      For my daily I have added a 2017 John Cooper Works Mini to my garage and it is the only "paddle shifter" car that I acquired back in October. I never realized just how much fun this JCW is to drive and is so underrated that most people on the highway leave me alone. I love how small and compact this car is as well for parking.

      Here you see all three of my cars as they are usually parked at my garage.

        Congrats on the .2, would love to see some photos! I argued with the wife for GT3, but she demanded a bigger house first, thus going 718. In a few more years, it will be 3RS time . If I had the garage space (or time), I'd probably keep my 46 - but sadly, I have neither, and I feel guilty for it just wasting away in the garage. I think I've driven it 4 times in past 6 months!

          After driving the 718 GT4, I wasn't sold, and it helped solidify my decision to get a 991.2 GT3 eventually. Congrats on your new GT3! Did you post pics? Manual or PDK?

Thought I got a good deal in this market because "it's been tracked". I picked it up last week in person and am now waiting for it to get shipped cross country.

            Ain't the driving comment the truth. My S2K often sits for 1-2 months undriven yet many of us myself included still buy more cars. Driving is the core that makes me happy the cars just add variety to the experience. Our friend group has started dedicating two away driving trips a year because all of us are so busy that it's hard to fit driving in the daily/weekly/monthly routine. Those trips have become something we all look forward to.

              Absolutely stunning car, I don't think I could've spec'd it better myself - enjoy it in good health! Can't wait to hear some impressions once you've been able to put a few thousand miles on it. Not sure what side of the country you're on, but we have a pretty robust GT car group that I'm happy to add you to here in SoCal.

                I concur with your sentiment. My friends and I have made it a habit to actively plan and schedule weekend getaways for spirited drives. The next one is this upcoming weekend in the mountains of VA and WV. NC and TN will be this fall.

                  Amazing GT3. That color is insane and the yellow PCCB's match nicely. Tell me more about your S2K. I just picked up an AP2 earlier this year and I'm loving it. Having a hard time posting pics here for some reason but got a 2004 GPW/tan with 70K miles, HKS SSM exhaust, AEM v2 intake, new RE71RS tires, and some other little goodies. About to put on Ohlins and that's probably it for me. This car is so much fun to drive with the top down in the canyons.

                    Looking forward to getting some miles on it soon! I'm in the Bay Area now and will be planning a drive out to the Tahoe area. Southern California and WV both have such good driving roads. I'll be jealous of you as you go on that trip. WV is slept on - such good roads. Seriously point in any direction in WV and there are amazing technical twisties for hours. Rt 250 in VA going into WV was....man.

                    Congrats on the S2K and glad you're enjoying it! They're so much fun. Mine is kind of a track/canyon build, 04 (cable throttle), 255 square setup on sakebomb ohlins (meh), Stoptechs, rollbar, and a seat. No aero. I don't drive it much now because it's not a great cruiser and Bay area roads really suck lol. But it is, so, so good on track and in canyons - it comes alive at 10/10ths, a total dance partner that keeps you on your toes. Shifter/clutch/throttle/chassis balance is just right, and it reminds me that I don't need to go eleventy million miles an hour just to have fun.

                      What do you dislike about the square setup with sakebomb ohlins? I considered going square (PO had fenders professionally rolled). I decided to just keep it simple and went with 215/255 on stock AP2V1 wheels. I just have regular ohlins 8k/10k since I thought that would be fine for me (not installed yet).

                        Love the 255 setup but don’t love the SBG Ohlins. You’ll be good on the 10/8 standard Ohlins. Those work fine. The SBG FPSport ones at 11k/11k aren’t valved with enough rebound to control the rear spring motion making for a very loose rear end. Basically have to run the rears at near full stiff to combat entry oversteer and at that point compression becomes too stiff resulting in poor bump compliance. It’s fun haha but it’s not fast and has very little adjustability on the usable damping curve
