TLDR: The BMW PCV Breather System Kit fixed it.
My engine has never consumed any oil. The car is heavily tracked. 2 track events ago, it started consuming a quarter of quart of oil per track day. I took it in to get a compression and leak down test done and the results were all within spec. The results were quite good actually. I read on the forums that PCV could be a culprit so the shop replaced the PCV parts. The shop also replaced the spark plugs because they were quite dirty, presumably from the oil.
No more oil consumption in my last track event. Oil level stayed exactly the same throughout the event. Back to normal.
I am still not sure why these parts contributed to my oil consumption. The crankcase vent hose has a check valve in it that appears to be moving freely. The oil separator isn't clogged. I hope this will help the next person having this issue. Imo I'd just replace this as part of preventative maintenance given the reasonable cost of the parts and relative ease of replacing them.
