Throttle response improvement using ECUWorx question

I have a 2002 M3 and am looking to improve the "throttle by wire" feel to more of the "throttle by cable" feel and came across ECUWorx software (https://www.ecuworx.co.uk/2020/04/09...tool-update-2/) that appears to be able to adjust the throttle feel. Have any of you used software for this purpose? I also have a 1997 M3 that has the good old fashioned cable throttle. I love the way it feels, whereas I have trouble rev-matching in the 2002 M3 regardless of using the “Sport” setting or standard setting. I’m hoping this software will allow me to get it closer to the feel of a cable throttle. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks...

You can successfully map the throttle however you want with that software.

    But.

Throttle by cable just feels better than throttle by wire. It's like electric steering or brakes-- they can add, say, weight, but it doesn't give you good steering feel.

As far as I'm aware, you can only modify the input value. There's no other affect you can have on feel.

I do miss the throttle cable from my 94 obd1 325i. It was one of the first things I noticed when I test drove my m3. I've gotten used to it since.

I wouldn't bother straying too far from stock values. Are there that many people that love sport mod? Idk, I hate sport mode.

You know, it has no affect on actual power or acceleration, simply in relation to how far you depress the pedal.

I remapped my settings after being unsatisfied with stock settings. The "normal" mode feeling too numb/mushy while "sport" too twitchy. Big improvements can be made via ECU Worxx software. Lots of online recommendations with specific profile values. I would temper your expectations about replicating a cable based feel though. Lastly, as I'm sure you know, reprogramming ECU not without risk (even with ECU Worxx) and should be approached cautiously.

Sport Mode is awful, I always cringe when people turn it on. It just makes the throttle shittier.

I'm glad to see we all agree a real cable feels best, the normal mode is mushy, and the sport mode is indeed awful and way too touchy unless you're on the track. My goal is not to "tune" the car but simply use a software tool like ECUWorx to help improve the throttle input. I know it will never be on par with a true cable feel, but if the normal mode can be improved from the mushy feel to something a bit more linear I would be happy.

Regarding risk, is there much to be concerned about with ECUWorx? Thanks for everyone's feedback so far.
