    Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line

Why did BMW design the vacuum line that connects the FPR and air rail with 3 different hoses without any clamp? It just relies on sloppy friction fit.

I was doing the injector the other night and found the air rail vacuum rubber hose was dangling and disconnected. and to my surprise they don't have any hose clamp to secure to air rail, and FPR?

Besides OEM replacement, does any aftermarket manufacturer makes this line in a single part with hose clamp design as permanent solution?

You can just buy 1/8” vacuum line and use pinch clamps or even cable ties.

Is 1/8" the ID or the OD?
      edit: when researching on hose # 15 ( PN: 11747797082), it is 3.3 x 1.8mm
      I guess 3.3mm ID (or 1/8" ID) x 1.8mm wall thickness

        ID.
I went with a silicone hose replacement. 1/8” ID was a tight enough fit that I did not need anything holding the hose in place.

Be careful with a clamp on the air rail because you can collapse the stem, it's really thin. There is no positive pressure so those vac line should only come loose with old age, I would replace it with no clamps like intended from the factory

            to Ryan and Mtrace,

What symptomes did your cars have that made you think it's the FPR tubing?

I have had no issues but my car is turbocharged so I have the lines glued to my FPR.

No issues here either. I went to a standalone setup so I’m running an atmosphere referenced fpr and ran the vacuum port off the air rail to a map sensor mounted in the dme bin.
If you did have a leak on the vacuum hose you would probably see a rich afr at idle and partial throttle as the fpr wouldn’t be pulled to a lower fuel pressure at high engine vacuum.

Did you notice any change after replacing with silicone vacuum hose?
how many things did you have to take it apart to reach that FPR?

                      I did the same.

You only have to remove a few panels to access the area. It's very easy to reach.

how did you fish the vacuum hose through? did you keep the outer jacket tube?

I didn't see a need to change the tube with the black plastic shielding. That line attaches up to to the rear part of the air rail with a rubber U line. I only replaced the shorter line and it was fine.
