    SMG high RPM Gear engagement

    Hi guys, before jumping into my question I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the guys who got this site up and running..Cheers!

    So here's the issue I'm running into. My SMG will not engage the next gear at high RPM (>4K) unless the throttle is fully lifted, then gear engagement will occur. Below 4K the SMG shifts properly. This is the case for all gear changes.

    Items I have replaced: Salmon relay, Tranny deten spring (original wasn't broken).

    Any thoughts on what I can try before I bite the bullet and order a GPS sensor?

    Does it skip gears? If not, I wouldn't touch the GPS yet. There are at least 2 detent springs (I think 3 but forget), did you do all of them?

      Not the root cause at all, but fresh trans oil certainly wouldnt hurt its chances at successful gear engagement.

      Any error codes stored?, have you run an SMG adaptation in INPA?

        Trans oil was flushed when the spring were done. I have a functional version of INPA from the Bimmergeeks site but I wasn't able to find any command that will run SMG adaptations. Can you advise where I would find it?

          None of the easily available for download versions of INPA have the SMG utilities. Most of us end up ordering from pss-1 on ebay.

              I've had the same issue for a while now. If you don't let go of the gas pedal, does the gear indicator continue to flash until a cog light pops up and you can't shift into that gear until restart?
