    Brake duct option for running CSL bumper

    Couple of years back when i was tracking the M3 significantly more. I tried to custom build a brake duct option that would work with my M3 CSL bumper. That did not work out well, but I did find an interesting option from a company that offers specialized parts/services for exotic and race bred vehicles. I should have posted this years ago

    Installation
    Pretty easy, just need to slightly cut outside sections of the plastic belly pan, drill couple of holes to rivel brake duct to the belly pan. Full instructions are provided.

    Experience
    Install was easy and i noticed that i'm running much cooler on the track. I recall measuring my temps and i was significantly lower than my brother's APRacing (CLK AMG) and Stoptech Trophy(RS4). My rotors and pads have lasted me several years. I use to run through pads like nothing. ​​​

        It’s taking air from the back of the oil cooler to the brake ducts?

          Probably isn’t as bad as you think. Even if the air is 200 degrees F (it isn’t) it could still cool 600 degree brakes not too much worse than regular 80 degree air.

              That’s pretty clever. Addresses the Home reason I never got a CSL bumper 🤔

                I’d be concerned about airflow. Air flows from high pressure to low pressure. You’re trying to flow air from a low pressure area behind the oil cooler to high pressure area in the wheel well. Also could affect oil cooling.

                  Back at Watkins glen when i was driving in the advanced group (BMWCCA) running 2:15-2:20, i was always getting oil temps at the middle 210 mark (even in hot socal summer weather) and my rotors were in the high 200s after 1 cool down lap(my memory could be off here). I'll try to get and document temp readings from Laguna Seca or Willow next year.
