    School me on diffs

    Looking into diff upgrades
    New clutches and add ramps upgrades

    1-What does the lockup percentage means, how it’s calculated, benefits to my simi daily driving and a few track events per year?

    2-What’s a good ramp option? Thinking of 30°/60°, again does it relate or lockup in anyway?

    any info would be really appreciated!

              I run a Drexler LSD in my race car. Contact Autotech (http://www.autotechdriveline.com/drexler.htm) for details about the Drexler diff.

                Here's a pretty in depth write up I came across awhile back. It's for a E92M but the m-variable units are the same, just different housings.

                  If its not race car don't waste your money. For a few track days i think is better to learn better the limits of your car first.
                  if you just want to rebuild your tired diff there is not that much options.

                    I have a Diffsonline diff after I had some issues with the factory M Variable unit. It's not cheap. Like at all. Second most expensive thing on my car after my front brakes. I would look into gears first since it's getting hard to find some ratios. The differences between a 1 way vs 2 way etc is when the clutches engage allowing slip or not allowing slip. Ramp angles are adjusted for this for accel and decel. That stuff is all moot if you don't track your car hard. Take a look at Diffsonline as they have a ton of info on their website about it.

                      If you are handy, you can refurbish the clutch plates in the stock M3 differential or have Dan at DiffsOnLine knock it out for you.

                        I was planning on doing my own work.
                        Drove a buddy's car on the track that had diffsonline diff with ramps and that thing hugs the road perfectly.
                        So now i'm torn between racing diffs since they are much cheaper than diffsonline, and Wavetrac diff, I like the idea but i don't know if it would be better than M variable LSD with upgraded ramps or not.
                        I need to fix the slop in the passenger side output flange also
