Just for Sound: SS NonResonated xpipe Section 2?

I saw an old Youtube video by Turner Motorsports which stated that if you just want a bit more sound to the exhaust system, so just add the non resonated section 2 xpipe made by SuperSprint. I've been looking for an exhaust (section 3) for awhile, but all I really want is a bit more sound to the system, esp in the lower end. Would the SS section 2 really help with just sound?

Here is the video in question. I am not sure if I can really tell the difference, but the video is very old and not that thorough.

A test drive of the Supersprint rear resonator (section 2) which is without resonator (straight pipes). This pipe bolts to the front section (either stock, o...

the standard ss resonated section will give you a little bit more overall volume compared to the stock section 2

going with the unresonated section 2 you're going to introduce more volume and also more rasp (the overall amount of which is dictated by your headers/sec1 setup)

From what I've seen and personally experienced in these cars...

      Section 1 affects rasp
      Section 2 affects drone
      Section 3 affect volume

There's overlap of course. But running unresonated sections on this exhaust never sounds good to me. If you want more volume, change out your muffler.

        Thanks for the explanations.

Oddly enough, I actually really like the raspy tinny sound when the car is going really fast. The sound is kind of intoxicating when driving on the freeway next to a center divider wall and you floor it.

i agree with this but the exception that the section 3 also contributes to whether or not you get drone based on sheer volume change ability. for example an all stock exhaust will drone when you add just an SS race and no amount of sec1 or sec2 resonators will change that

            I have a SS unresonated x-pipe if you're interested. I'm in SoCal.

In my opinion this is quite opposite for the oem section 2 vs supersprint twin pipe resonated section 2.

I am running ss v1 headers, ss resonated s1, ss twin pipe res s2, and agency power s3.
Switching from oem section 2 to the supersprint twin pipe resonated section 2 cut down rasp but also quieted my car down significantly at low rpm but still screams at high rpm. Also killed some drone I had at about 60mph.

In my experience section 3 is the biggest contributor to drone. I'm RE Rasp, to stock section 2, then to RE El Diablo. Drone city from 2k to 3k but I'm in a vert so unless the hard top is on I don't notice.

Totally interested! Let me know how much you’re selling it for!

That’s a good way to put it. I had the BW race resonated center section and the drone made it almost undriveable on the highway.

I put in a straight center section is the drone was reduced a LOT with no affect on the volume.

So if I got the SS straight section 2 (no resonator), there would be no affect on the volume on an otherwise completely OEM/stock exhaust system?

I'm curious why Turner Motorsports says that: "Want more rasp and volume to come through from your exhaust? This Supersprint section 2 will replace and delete the factory resonator that sits before the muffler. Without the resonator there to dampen the sound the overall volume will increase and let more S54 rasp come through. Combine this with the Supersprint section 1 straight pipes for even more Motorsport rasp. This section 2 pipe will bolt up to a stock section 1 or cat section and any muffler. It's perfect for getting just a little more volume from your stock exhaust without changing the muffler."

I can’t say for sure what a straight section 2 would do.
But that’s a bunch of marketing bullshit that these vendors write up.
