Exhaust heat shield mounting point. Position A or B?

I performed some work on the car and put everything back together. During the test drive, I heard a scratchy sound when driving and I'm really hoping it's the problem below.

Should the heat shield mounting screw on the rear driver's side right behind the fuel tank use the hole in Position A or Position B?

Ok, just tried to move the heat shield to position A and it wouldn't budge so that problem is solved.

Question now is, what does the hole in Position A secure? It's definitely had a bolt there. Anyone know?

      Position B is correct.

Position A IIRC is for the reinforcement bars on a convertible Non-M
