Love to hear it! What was your realization after torquing the first time?

I forgot the gasket maker from the front cover to the head. Felt silly pulling it apart for something so little but rather safe than sorry while the engine is out.

Apparently you can just pull the front cover and apply it, but the tis calls for the front cover to be on before the head

You can, but at that point I would have pulled the head like you did. IMO that was the right move.
