    Axle replacement

    Hi all,

Finally got around to working on my car again. Got the vanos anti rattle kit installed and im pleased to say the engine is the quietest ive ever heard it. I was ready to rip it when I pulled out of the garage and remember about my rear clunk. After a quick check I noticed my axle boot is ripped and has been for a while. The axle cv joint seems to be completely compromised.

Wheres the best place to get a replacement axle (or set of axles). I see redish selling complete sets in the UK for $1250 US. However they do not ship to the US. Turner/ECS sells one shaft for almost $1k. Where can I get one??? Right rear if it matters.

I could probably help you with that, I can get them here in Europe for a good price and send them to you. Send me a PM if interested.

I’m going though a big maintenance job replacing all of my wheel bearings. What is the consensus on rear axle maintenance? I have a ~160k mikes on them. Do I need to consider a rebuild or replacement? TIA! PS - if somebody know of a good shop to rebuild these in LA please let me know. https://uploads.tapatalk

I replaced mine with the SurTrack Axle from Turner Motorsports, fits E46 M and Z4 M perfectly, and has been great since. $150 and I drive my car hard and drift it often.

I definitely saw that. I just don't know how well I could trust it. Sounds like it worked nicely for you though

I'd get a used axle, replace and repack the boots. Maybe REM polish the CVs.

https://spareto.com I’ve used them for countless customers E90’s rear axles that are now discontinued by BMW.
The ship from Latvia via DHL and I have them in less than a week to Canada.
use the bmw part number and the site cross references and gives you options.
