I'm about to bring a US spec M3 back to the US from Canada. When it was exported from the US, the odometer was converted to KM and permanent daytime running lights were enabled. Is there a DIY way to unwind all of this or is this best left to the dealer (or other shop) in Canada to unwind before brining the car back? I can dust off my old Windows 7 laptop that has Ediabas plus some other software and maybe do some basic coding but have only done this previously on an E39 and E60. Has anyone done this or have some indications of how to do it?

Open up NCS Expert, pull the VO/FA, check the FA if it contains $548 which is the option code for kilometers, if it’s there, delete it and perform an FA_WRITE to LSZ/KMB. If not there then it was manually coded and writing the FA isn’t required.
In both cases then proceed to default code (empty MAN) the LSZ and KMB modules, then your lights and cluster should be back to default US spec.E46 ///M3 • 12/2002 • phönix-gelb • 6MT
