All that said, having the values continue to tick up is great but will likely never outpace a traditional investment, especially when you consider running costs, maintenance, insurance, etc. - the real value is driving them or enjoying them as you see fit.

The argument against them having a huge rise is the sheer volume of production, but finding clean, well taken care of examples will continue to become more of a challenge as time goes on.

Nor do I think it being mentioned here will make many, if any, people go buy them. Cool shout out from people who can drive anything they want though.

I’ve personally always thought e46 m3 was peak m3. Maybe I’m a bit biased as 1. I’m an owner now and 2. I’ve wanted one of these since I was in my 20’s (and finally bought one 20+ years later) . But e46 m3 will at some point over the next 15-25 years hit a point where they’ll be $50k+ cars.
I attend Barrett Jackson every other year and the guys you see are the 60s+ crowd who wanted a specific car in their 20’s/30’s but were not able to get it then. I think this car will reach that at some point as the enthusiast crowd ages and comes into money. Maybe not outrageous e30 m3 values, but clean low mileage ones, maybe the zcp variants as those tend to fetch higher prices, could be a consistent $100k car for sure because as time passes, there will be less and less clean examples available.
Ultimately, everything I said could be horseshit. Only time will tell and we have a long ways to go, so enjoy the piss out of these cars, gents.Last edited by mr pete; 09-06-2024, 03:57 PM.06 IB M3 ZCP

I've thought about whording S54s...with all of the swaps going on I think motors are going to be $$$ in the future. Since 2016-2019, these motors have gone from about $2500-$3000 to about $4000 for a motor in similar condition.
