Starter heat shield

Just swapped out a starter on my 2006 vert, there was no heat shield around it. I have a 2004 donor vert that I put 100K miles on, never replaced starter there, checked if there was a heat shield and also none.

does anyone know if it comes with one stock, as I’ve seen DIYs with it there.

There is no heat shield, as the exhaust pipes are far from the starter.

the starter I replaced, wouldn’t crank when heated, had to dump water in the back of the engine to get it to start 😂
