Replacing the throttle shaft

My throttle shaft is a bit rusty in places.

I would like to replace it and the needle roller bearings. I was wondering if this could be done in situ?

Recently did this and it was not easy.... Throttle bodies have to come off the car and each body removed from the shaft. The bearings are almost impossible to get out, especially if rusty. Honestly I would recommend just buying a used set of clean TBs.

Thanks. Do you reckon the surface rust on the rod offered any mechanical resistance?

How did you remove and refit the bearings?

Now that you have replaced the shaft, do you think it has made any difference?

For me it was just cosmetic, no mechanical issue. I used a blind bearing puller to remove most of them. A couple would not budge. Local machine shop couldn't get them out either. You can leave the bearings and just swap the shaft for a new one (13547838121), or try to clean up the old one.

Thanks, i have a spare set of ITB's and the shaft looks good. I was thinking of making one out stainless steel.
