I posted this also in the Mid-Atlantic regional section of this forum but since it doesn't look like many folks look at regional sub-forum I am posting here, too. Any recommendations for someone who can do an SMG to Manual swap in DMV? I am in northern Virginia. Drive logic warning light came up yesterday and was barely able to get it to my shop (luckily I was only about a mile away). Pulled codes say position sensor is bad but they're pretty sure 3rd gear is toast. They can do the position sensor with no guarantee that will fix things for about $2500. New transmission is more than the car is probably worth. So just wondering who might be able to do a swap locally as that (hopefully) may be cheaper. Car only has 86k miles and is super clean.
