Air Intake Filter Maintenance, oil question...

I have an AFE intake and I'm wondering if I absolutely must use their oil (blue) to recharge the filter or can I use anything else that might be locally available like K&N, etc. Seems like I should be able to but I'm checking and maybe there's something unique with the AFE filter material and their oil combination. Thanks in advance.

not sure about the material they use, but if KN oil is good enough for a simple cotton filter, im sure it won't hurt using it on AFE

personally: i've done the different brand oil on different oil filter and no issues. they're all the same sh*t. i did my foresters oil filter using k&n oil and it was the same.

AFE was started By some former K&N employees. Not that it means anything but one might deduct that there is a chance the oil formulation is very similar.
