Here’s some exciting news for the Touring enthusiasts. The Touring specific VinceBar:
I haven’t been nearly as active, or even present, here on this forum as I was on the old M3forum.net.
I thought I’d change that moving forward.
I know there are a number of members that have built S54 Tourings and in some cases even full blown M3 Tourings.
And I also know that there’s quite a few performance Touring enthusiasts out there.
And given the (practical) Touring part of the concept of a performance Touring, I’m pretty sure most chose to keep a full interior and are keen to keep the boot space practical and factory looking.
While still bullet proofing the RACP (Subframe).
For this the VinceBar kit is ideal. Especially as its also designed to be DIY friendly to install.
Although the standard Simplified VinceBar physically fits in the Touring there has been a bit of a snag when it comes to reinstalling the interior trim.
A couple of the brackets for the floor panels will interfere with the VinceBar as seen below.
Notice how close the stud is to the VinceBar
And compare that to how the trim needs to sit.
After a customer pointed this out to me we collaboratively came up with this solution:
This is what the bar itself looks like:
As you can imagine it takes quite a bit of extra fiddling with cutting, welding and grinding to create those pockets.
After a (rather large) bit of thinking and CAD work I came up with this solution which minimises the need for extra parts while also having the laser cutter do the heavy lifting.
These VinceBars are now available and in stock in both the epoxy/rivet-in version as well as the weld-in version.
