Smoke test help!

Hey Fellas,

So I'm getting the Trim and lean errors. I'm need to figure this out, in order to pass emissions.

I bought a smoke machine, so I just need to know all areas to test (I have a CSL set up, and there is nothing on Youtube).

One easy access point would be the small line at the rear of the air rail, that would allow you to test the majority of the rubber lines etc.

The rubber line with the clamp, the metal rail ripple, or the tube that goes on the nipple?

The smaller tube, you can just pull it off, should be easy to hook up the smoke machine to.
Might have to find a smaller diameter hose for the end of the smoke machine as that is a small port.

Ok so plug the smoke machine into the rubber tube (with yellow hard tube)... zero leak.

Then plugged machine into air rail, and plugged all associated holes... now smoke is coming from the cylinders. Is thus normal?

Yea that's normal, now that everything is unplugged if you think you might have a vacuum leak tap into each line you can. You might as well tap into the line you unplugged to get smoke into the air rail as well, that goes to the fuel pressure regulator I do believe.

I checked everything and I don't see smoke coming out of anywhere odd.

Now I'm using baby oil for the smoke and seeing a liquid substance on the TB after (any everywhere else tested). Is that ok?

I wouldn't worry about the oil, no biggie unless it absolutely pooling up etc.

What cylinders? I don't think you meant engine pistons/cylinders.
