How important is the manufacturer when it comes to wheel spacers

I find myself shopping for 17-18mm spacers for BBK clearance on a set of wheels that I want to put on my car. Given that 17mm and 18mm spacers are oddball specs, there are very few manufacturers or brands make them. Additionally, seems like quite a lot of companies have started making wheel spacers since the times that only H&R were the only trusted wheel spacer in the BMW community. Seems like wheel spacer design has also changed a lot with most of them having holes and cutouts for material removal in efforts to reduce weight.

My question is how important is the manufacturer when it comes to wheel spacers?

Grant it, this also stating that the wheel spacers are obviously hub centric, are the correct hub bore, and specs.

I found a company that makes custom spacers:

    5x120 mm hub-centric BMW wheel spacers with a 72.56 mm hub bore fit models like E24, E28, E30 M3, E31, E32, E34, E36, E38, E46, E60, E63, E82, E83, E87, E90, E91, E92, E93, F01, F02, F06, F07, F10, F12, F13, F22, F23, F25, F26, F30, F31, F32, F33, F34, F36, and F87. They correct wheel offset and prevent interference.

Seems like they would work and they are made in custom sizes while being affordable. They also have material cutouts reducing weight and the hub groove for easy removal.

I know some people are totally against wheel spacers but for the ones that are not, what are your thoughts?

I don't know much about wheel spacers 😂, but I am selling some 15mm Spacers by Renn Motorsports 5x120 72.5mm.

I use ones made by SCC in Germany, quality TÃœV approved stuff, they offer 1mm increments so odd sizes are available.

The exact center bore fitment both to the hub and the wheel (paper test) is the most important to me, much more important than a few grams of weight savings from a skeleton design.

I've used the vemum spacers and can say they are good quality for the price. In the end, it's a piece of aluminum that's machined. The extent of the machining is probably where the price reflects it. Some good quality spacers fit really well in the hub and stud hole size. Others are slightly larger, or smaller in the hub but still work. Better quality ones machine excess out to make it as light as possible.

Would you recommend these spacers? Did you have any issues with them?

I use Old School Turner (pre-ECS) hubcentric spacers.

I don't think it's terribly difficult to cnc parts in this day and age.

These Core4 spacers have a cutout in the middle to prevent fatigue on the bolts/studs:

PRICE IS PER PAIR (quantity of 1 in cart = 2 spacers) Introducting our "Anti-Fatigue" hub-centric slip-on wheel spacers for 5x120 BMW vehicles with 72.56mm diameter wheel hubs. Available in 5mm, 12mm, 15mm, and 20mm thicknesses. WHY ANTI-FATIGUE? Never worry about wheel center-bore chamfer interference due to manufacturing differences of wheel brands. Interference at the center can stress wheel studs significantly. The mating surfaces of the spacers ensures the that the center of the wheel stud clamping pressure is outside the wheel bolt circle - i.e.- increases friction leverage to resist shear loads (braking, engine torque, corner weight, etc.) from being imparted onto the wheel studs (BAD!). Hub-centric for OEM wheel alignment with the rotation axis of the wheel hub/bearing (except 5mm which is thin enough to keep the wheel hub hub-centric feature) OTHER FEATURES: 6061-T651 Aluminum Alloy Mating surfaces held to 0.001in (0.025mm) or less parallelism and flatness Pry notches along the OD on both sides for easy removal from hub or wheel Lightweight design Type II Black Anodized finish to prevent aluminum oxidation (white powdery build-up)

I like future classic as they use the rotor fasteners to keep them in place.
