    My M3 story…

    First post….long time lurker…

I just wanted to introduce myself and my obsession with the E46!

Flashback, It was 2004, I was 16 years old, and my older 25 year old cousin just picked up a brand new 2005 BMW M3 coupe 6-spd in jet black, It was love at first sight!

i was fortunate enough just to have a car at 16, it was an an old hand me down VW Jetta, but I always had a lust for nicer cars and manual transmissions, which at that point I had no idea how to drive a manual expect practicing the motions on my computer chair while reading “how to drive a manual” for dummies.

My cousin, god bless him, one day stopped by and as I was checking out his car in the driveway, he offered to teach me how to drive a manual on his brand new M3. I was excited, and also extremely nervous that I would stall it(and I did a few times) but he worked with me in an empty highschool parking lot. I got the hang of it, not only fell in love the driving a manual, but fell in love with the M3. Every time he would stop by, he would give me a 15 minute lesson and test drive and finally had to confidence to drive it on the road. I knew one day I would own this exact car. I would spend countless hours building my car on the BMW website configurator in my favorites colors, Laguna Seca Blue & Phoenix Yellow.

Fast forward 16 year later, in 2020 I ended up buying my childhood dream car, a 2005 BMW M3, also in jet black with a 6 speed manual, but a convertible since I love having the open air experience as a 2nd leisure vehicle.

I am now on my second E46 M3, I sold my black one last year for my dream color, a 2001 phoenix yellow over black 6spd manual with 49k miles that popped up for sale, I couldn’t pass it up. This vehicle continues to put a smile on my face as it did when I was a teenager.

My only regret, not swapping the OEM Style 67 19’s off my black M3 before I sold it. I currently have the base 18” wheels on my Phoenix yellow M3. If anyone here has a CLEAN set of Style 67’s 19’s laying around in your basement collecting dust, please let me know! I’ve been looking for the right set for the last 9 months.

    cheers 🍻
    Matt

Great story and the color has grown on me over the decades haha, congrats on the high school dream car. I too live that dream now, it's like a fountain of youth for me.

Thought the post was gonna have something to do with Bojangles, or getting food at Bojangles and seeing an M3 there or something.

Just PY and vert and Style 67 talk instead.

No mention of the overly sweet, sweet tea either.

I’ve never been to a Bojangles restaurant. It was just a nickname of mine growing up. I’ve never even seen one in Michigan or in all of years of travel around the country.

Please stop twisting the knife in Sharocks heart. He has a lot of fond memories at places like Sambos, Smorgusbergs, Bojangles, etc.
