    Rear Seat Delete options

Looking for some recommendations for rear seat delete. Surprisingly, I haven’t found any that look good or that look like a quality build. The few good ones what I’ve seen and spoken to people about are all custom builds.

I’m interested in a design that’s similar to the PS Design rear seat delete for the E92 chassis. See link for reference:

PSDesigns BMW E92 M3 GTS Rear Seat Delete - Allowing users to remove the rear seats and close the rear to the rest of the cabin. Trimmed in Alcantara fabric

Not sure if it’s just me, but I’ve only found a couple of threads on the topic for the E46 M platform which is a bit surprising considering the large number of people who track e46s.

I also have been looking for a while and have not come across anything that clean. Generally the only rear seat deletes that I have found for the e46 m3 are the ones made from raw aluminum.

I am definitely interested in a lightweight clean looking rear seat delate.

WOW, I just noticed that rear seat delete weights 15kgs which is 33lbs. That kinda negates deleting the rear seat.

Same. Nothing clean which is mind blowing considering everything else made for the chassis.

As for the weight, great observation, I didn't see that, but seat delete is two-fold for me. Weight and I don't and won't ever have anyone in the back so I'd like to have that reflected with no seats in sight.

I am in the same boat as you: Weight and I don't and won't ever have anyone in the back but primarily weight savings.

It would be great if someone would make something for the e46 coupe chassis. There seems to be a ton of options for the e9x and the f8x but nothing for the e46.

Maybe building carbon fiber panels where you have go get wrapped in alcantara for a clean finish. I am sure there are other members here that would be interested in this as well.

Sub'd. Interested in doing the same as I'm planning to get a second Cobra Nogaro for passenger, car is getting more focused. Though I'd like to do a half cage eventually so suspect will probably have to wait until then and do something custom

Here is what I ended up doing, Street faction aluminum lower panel covered in Alcantara and the Slon blockoff. Used some L track for cargo tie down and some elastic pockets for small storage options.

The street faction panel is discontinued unfortunately. Maybe you can 3D scan yours and make that data available

Can you post pics? Also, can you elaborate on what you did or how did it in terms of assembly. Thanks

Track people don't do rear seat deletes. The weight savings are pointless for most. Go to a paddock with a dozen E46 M3s and they will be full interior, with maybe one half-stripped and caged. I have seen a total of one in the past maybe 6 years with a seat delete - and I do a lot of events at 8 different tracks.

That's likely why there aren't a lot of options, but weight savings or track use isn't driving me to want to do it. People also do it because they don't need or want the rear seats. I too don't want them if I can get a decent looking delete kit.

Generally speakling, a rear seat delete does correlate to track use or wieght savings, however, they're not synonymous. Not wanting rear seats does not mean im tracking the car.

Maybe some of these will help you do a DIY. I saved them from the old board but decided against them due to the very small weight delta.

I want to make a rear seat delete in CF with JC / GT4 Composites but this year we already have tons of project.

I guess it depends on the purpose of the car. Are those cars you see at the track dedicated track cars or cars used strictly for enjoyment or are those cars daily driven as well?

From all the research that I have done, it shows that deleting the rear seats saves between 30-40 lbs which is significant. I guess it depends on the person's priorities. My e46 m3's have always been for enjoyment and never really daily driven so I have never needed a rear seat. In 20 years of ownership, I can not remember a single time I have ever had anyone in the rear seats.

Ugh. I was hoping you were going to chime in and say that you were working on something. All your products have been looking good. I since plan on picking up a cabin air filter housing unit and a rear carbon shelf (depending on weigh savings) from you. I may even pick up a CSL rear diffuser as I am having second thoughts on installing my OEM CSL diffuser.

Any idea on the timeframe it would take to develop rear seat delete in CF with JC / GT4 Composite?

Also what price point they would be sold at?
