    Kids still love the M3!

Thought I’d share this story as this audience would appreciate and it’s a good reminder that sometimes the little things make a big impact.

My 3 y/o son is a huge car guy (Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree) and has been begging me to pick him up from school in “his” blue car (I already have to hid the keys so he doesn’t take them).

Any way got home from work a bit early yesterday and the weather was nice, so figured I’d swap in the kid seats and pick him up in the M3.

He was outside playing when I pulled up and he almost lost his sh*t. He was beyond excited to see the M3 (and maybe me?). Started screaming with joy and running around telling all his friends about “his” race car. The rest of the night he kept saying how much he liked being picked up in the car and asked for me to do it again. He’s going to be disappointed by the XC90 today, but that’s my wife’s problem lol.

This story brought a smile to my face and I really hope the same goes for my kid one day! It also immediately brought me back to the times I got picked up from middle school in my step dad's 88' 911 - he would do the same if he got out of work early and would park down the street from my school on the road he knew I would walk down to wait for me (before the days of cell phones of course). I would look for it every day when it would start to get warm out and the days that it was there - man, I would lose my shit haha

It was definitely fun to see him excited, plus in a sea of gray crossovers in the pick up line an LSB m3 reminds me of why I like cars.

My mom had a DY E36M and some of my fondest memories from that age(~3-5y/o as well) was chilling in my car seat while she drove around spiritedly. I, too, at one point bragged about how my mom drives around in a “winners” race car

One random memory I still have was pulling up to a DUI checkpoint and the cop was just confused/surprised seeing a <5’ Asian lady with lil ol’ me chilling in the back in such a car.

I feel like every new SUV on the road is black, grey or white - the minute you see any color, let alone LSB, it grabs your attention. I hope all his friends get the car bug from seeing your car as well!

ha your mom sounds cool, I could never convince my parents to buy cool cars when I was a kid.

NGL, I was a bit sad when she decided to let it go instead of passing it on to me. Low-ish miles, garage kept. Near Mint. In hindsight, I wasn't the best driver in my early years so I don't blame her! I still yearn for a clean DY 36M sometimes, but knowing how much it takes to maintain just the 46M is enough for me... for now.😜

She def was and somewhat still is every young as heart so it took her a while before coming to terms with her age and eventually sold that off too. Hell, I took her out to dinner in my E46M the other night and she was just unfazed as I was way back when! Hoping you and your son will end up with the same love for these cars as we did/do!

I notices kids in my neighborhood check out the car as I drive by, sometimes signal with thumb up or something. Interesting testament to the styling of the car that seemingly evokes a fundamental emotional stir in a true "car kid (guy)".

My son is in HS, and the M3 always gets thumbs up, "love your car", etc. This happens almost every week. I think Need 4 Speed got these kids hooked on it 😂

I recently got my other car running for the first time in almost a year, not 3 minutes into my drive around the block a younger dude in a Civic was chatting me up at a stop light.

The flip side to all this is how many younger people don’t even drive or give a fuck about cars at all. Crazy to me but that’s the way the works is changing.

this has been my experience as well, there's definitely young enthusiasts out there, but i'm constantly surprised to see kids coming out of college with no interest in even getting a drivers license.

I want to make sure my son and daughter both appreciate and know how to drive and plan to take them to teen driving events on track.

It’s something I always wished my parents did for me and I finally did for myself as an adult. My kids don’t need to like it (think they will) but I at least want to give them a chance.

Great stuff. My kids learned to drive in this car (and all the others except the S55 — too big and fast).

But this one really taught them that shit is supposed to happen immediately when you hit the gas or brakes or turn the wheel. They were both a bit shocked at first, but when they knew how to handle this one around town, in traffic, top down, etc., I knew they were paying enough attention and ready to properly get their license.

Now when they visit “the beach house” they’re both free to drive this one if they want (in their 20’s, college grads). The 500E is completely off limits.

Suffice it to say they completely respect and enjoy German engineered performance cars.
