Driveshaft CV joint cap, availability/part number??

Edit: do M3s even have this??? I'm so confused now.

Hey guys, I was wondering if this part is available on its own? RealOEM does not list a number and its greyed out. on the diagram I misplaced mine because of how I am as a person so I need one of these urgently. If anyone has a spare LMK

Related: pretty sure I figured out the cause of my rear end clunking problem

M3 does not have this, hence it is grayed out. I had to look this up as well when I converted to CF driveshaft.
The part number is 26117504634, you can find it on realoem.com for regular 3 series models.

Thank you, I heard some people say that early M3s have it but I assume no?

Mine is an 01 and it didn't have it, so I guess not.

Is this needed for the CF driveshaft conversion?

No. It came up for me since the shop that converted my driveshaft put this cover on to seal the rear joint for transport. Since I had not seen it before on my original driveshaft I started looking it up.

Will the non-M cap work on the M3's?

The cap as a bump in the middle (to account for compressed joint), I have not tried to put it inside the diff to see if it fits, but theoretically it should.

I just don't see the benefit. The diff mating piece does the job of sealing it off from dirt and water.

This part is for non-M E46. I have it on my ZF 6-speed sedan and it's there to keep the grease contained within the CV joint.

M3 does not come with this part from factory and I'm not sure if it even fits as the M3 CV joint and differential input flange could have different shape and size. Even if it fits, personally, I would not want to try to install one because it's obviously not necessary (otherwise all M3s would have grease splattered all over). Adding one could cause issues by adding some thickness and increasing overall length of the DS.

I hear that, I always just zip-tie a bag to the D.S when I remove it to keep the grease inside clean. It's not very often I even remove it so not a big deal, just wondered.
