Power Steering Return Line Leak at Reservoir

Recently I noticed my power steering was weeping at the connection between the return line and the reservoir. It was leaking on the backside of this line, not the front. The PO had the reservoir and both hoses connected to it replaced 2-3 years ago.

From the looks of it, the clic-r clamp didn't seem fully fastened, so I disconnected at that connection only (pulled out the PS fluid from the reservoir first), cut a bit of the hose, then reconnected (clamp was in good shape and they are reusable), validating the clic clamp engaged fully. Later I went for a 20 minute drive and noticed a trail on the same spot, on the backside of the line. I suppose it could be residual fluid, but seemed like a bit much and was the exact spot.

Any other types of clamps that would work better than the clic-r for this application? Or anyone have the reservoirs crack at or around the connection with the return line? I have one of the BMW worm style clamps that I could try. I also recognize I could just replace the reservoir and hose, but really want to see if I can solve it another way first. Thank you!

I've used the GEMI, Norma, ABA with good results. I think the FCP CRP "brand" are GEMI. I had to use one at the PS pump because I could not get my clamp tool on the clic-r style. And I may have used one at the reservoir when I did this job but can't quite recall.

Thanks - I have an OEM version of those clamps from FCP laying around, so maybe I'll try that next. If they work for coolant lines, not sure why they wouldn't for PS.

I have the same issue. what are the clamps part numbers? I dont like the worm style ones, and would like to keep the OE style one, but maybe my clamp lost tension, I reused and started to zip a bit.

11 is the return clamp and 2 is the pump clamp. 07129952107 is the worm-style clamp from BMW I have on hand. I did try and throw a new OEM clamp on, but I couldn't get my clic clamp tool on it (was doing it from the top with the airbox out, but it's still a tight and awkward fit) so I just reused the old one, which appeared in good shape and it did clamp down as expected.

I also bought the Rein PS return hose from FCP (OEM was $250 or so, this was under $40) to have on hand. It was noticeably thicker than the one I have on now, which may be OEM, but not positive. Maybe the OEM clamp I have on now can't get a tight enough fit and I could wrench down the BMW worm-style I have...
