Good work, I did a refresh and refill of the cooling system on my wife's CRV and also watched several videos to ensure a smooth process. It's not a bad job at all as long as you have properly functioning tools. For my initial fill, I actually charged the system in a liquid state on the high side. Engine off of course. For the rest, I used a small weigh scale and charged it on the low side with the engine on.

Question – regarding the 3oz oil charge, since the spec calls for 5-6oz of oil are you adding it based on the amount recovered during the refrigerant evac? Or do you feel that adding this amount of oil is a safe assumption if the AC has gone through a full recovery process?
From what I've gleaned while trying to learn AC too much or too little oil can have negative repercussions, too little obviously burning out the compressor faster, but in our system I'm wondering whether an overfill on the order of 1-2oz would be concerning.Last edited by dukeofchen; 08-02-2024, 04:12 PM.'04 LSB Coupe 6MT
