    E46 M3 Convertible Fitment.

Seeking Advice on Fitment for BBS CH Wheels

    Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a set of BBS CH wheels, and I’m looking for some advice regarding the fitment, particularly in the rear. Here are my current specs:

    - Front: 19x8.5 ET 35 with 245/35/19 tires
    - Rear:19x10 ET 20 with 265/35/19 tires

The rear wheels are sticking out just a tad more than I’d like, and I’m wondering what the best approach would be to achieve a better fitment. Should I consider adding camber, or would adjusting the tire size help? (Kind of a dumb question)

Additionally, I’m currently on stock suspension, and while the rear height is perfect for me, I do have a broken spring on one side (it sits perfect lol). I’m curious if switching to lowering springs would allow me to lower the car without running into issues. It’s worth noting that I don’t experience any rubbing at the moment, so I’m unsure if lowering it is the right move. But the front needs to be lowered a bit. Any insight would be appreciated.

Ps- Car is a 02 convertible hardtop, just realized that’s not added in my write up.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have a vert and I’m running 19x10et25 BBs LM with 285/30/19 tires in the rear. I am pretty low (pss10) but I had my fenders shaved. Still no rubbing and looks fine. I’m even considering running a 5mm spacer which would get me to where you are at as there is room. Is it poking that bad? More camber for a stance look would be a bit silly so maybe go with a 255/35 rear tire?

I will get pictures of the poke today after work, I’m not sure if it’s poking a tad or if it’s perfect lol. I was thinking just a few degrees of camber to get it “perfect”. I feel like the tire stretch is what is poking more than the actual rim. Btw love the vert 👌🏼

That's really weird because I also run BBS CH's on my vert and am running the 19x10's in the rear with no issues. Generally, that size and offset provide a better flush fitment versus the stock wheels. I am running a 275/30/19 which is wider and do not have any rubbing. It fits just fine. I am wondering if the broken spring is messing up your alignment or if your alignment is off.

Lowering the car will naturally camber the wheels a bit, nothing dramatic. If you going to install lowering springs then that might work.

I definitely do need an alignment but didn’t want to do it with the broken spring. Going to figure out suspension and go from there. What did you go with? Any spacers in the front? Looks proper.

            Thanks!

BTW the tires stretching shouldn't poke as the tire is slanted inward like this /. If the tire was too wide, which your size shouldn't be, then it would poke outside of the rim like this \. Take a photo when you can, but before doing anything with your wheel combo, should look into fixing the broken spring. I have the Bilstein PSS10 coilovers which are nice, but if I were to redo it again, I would've just gotten new oem shocks and maybe a mild drop with an eibach spring. BTW, better to buy your car parts NOW due to the tariffs =/

Rear ratio is bit tall, i ran same size in my last set and i would rub on dips, I'm slightly lowered but not by much, I'm surprised you're not rubbing. Proper size would be:
                245/35/19
                275/30/19

Good thing I didn’t order tires yet. So you would go with 275 30 19 in the rear? I’m thinking of just keeping the rear shocks stock and doing lowering springs.

Don’t mind the bumper sag that’s on the list…

I think that looks fine. Any more camber and I think it'll look weird.

Just keep that look and fix the spring! =)

check out this thread, great info on tire sizing

10" ET20 will need -2 degrees or more of camber, which should be doable with the stock lower control arms. If the car were lowered, it would gain negative camber as well.

The 35 rear tire profile is too tall. CSL is 235/35/19 front and 265/30/19 rear. The rear tire will have a little stretch on the 10, but modern tires run wide and there should still be some tire to protect the face of the wheel. 245/35 275/30 is another option.
