Need help identifying whether Subframe has been fixed or not

    Hey guys,

So I've recently taken ownership of an E46 M3. Took it for a service and an inspection and one thing that was noted that the subframe didnt need to be repaired as there was no apparent cracks.

The cars done 140xxx miles or 226xxx kms in Australian speak.

Anyway, was working on it last night and noted that the boot floor epoxy looked different. Spoke to a friend who also owns an E46 M3 and mine looked different to his.

Judging by the photos, would you be to tell whether structual work has been done? and any idea what they couldve done?

Take the backseat out and check if anything doesn't look OEM.

to be sure, I would recommend getting underneath the car and take a look. The DIY will be helpful as a guide.

My car had the RACP replaced at some point well before my ownership, dunno if BMW did that in all markets or what (?) but one easy way to tell is if there's a visible seam across the area in the trunk that would act as a "spare wheel well." If that area has a big line across it, the RACP has probably been cut out and replaced. You can see it from in the trunk or if you get underneath the car with a flashlight and you can see it easy. Also if you pull the rear seat bench you will probably see some extra seam sealer and paint that doesn't match.

Of course this is the part where I'm obligated to say, just because the panel was replaced at some point, does not mean the car is "fine" but that's a whole can of worms.
