    (Uncontrolled) Crank, No Start.

I encountered a strange issue this evening when I started my car. Upon turning the key with the brake depressed, the car cranks uncontrollably and continues cranking even after removing the key from the ignition, which baffles me.

I've already installed a new battery and replaced the starter.

I monitored the voltage via INPA during my start attempts and noticed that when the voltage was below 12V, it wouldn't turn over, but once it reached the 13V range, it would turn over briefly before stopping while the starter continued running.

INPA shows error code 173 (0xAD) for the KL50 starter switch, indicating a continuous signal from terminal 50 on the starter switch input. I've attached a video demonstrating the issue where you can hear my keys jangling around when I remove them from the ignition while the starter is still running. Oddly, in this particular recording, when I turned the key counterclockwise, it stopped the starter, but you can then hear me rotate the keys back and forth again, which causes the starter to continue running. This second instance represents my problem - the first time it stopped was just a one-off occurrence.

This has left the car undrivable, which is particularly frustrating since I need to drive it for emissions testing. Before this issue, I had flashed the vehicle without a battery tender connected since it was less than a minute, then connected a tender since the car hadn't been driven in some time ... this may have been braindead. I don't believe this damaged the DME since I can still read and write to the car via MSS flasher and pull values through INPA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is entirely beyond me.

Unplug the EWS, then jump pin1 and 2 sing 15A or high fuse (pin1 and 2 are the largest pin), and crank again. If if crank and stop as expect with the key position, then EWS relay is the issue. If starter continued cranking with key off, then pull the fuse out and it should stop. If not stop then ...the starter.
