Point: Speakers no longer produce sound, Homelink wiring no longer produces power for radar.
Background: Since taking ownership, the rear speakers have never produced sound. At seemingly random bumps, the volume would dim, and upon cornering or another bump, or turning up the volume, it would return to where it was prior to dimming.
Assuming it was the AMP, I replaced it. It seemingly slightly improved the sound quality, but the rear speakers still did not produce sound. I picked up a set of red door cards, with the speakers, and swapped those all in, presuming the original rear speakers were perhaps shot. This did not solve the issue.
Fast forward a year or so and 500 miles, and only the passenger side front speakers were working. As of this morning, none of the speakers will work, and the radar/homelink also is seemingly not getting power. Swapped the radar to verify the unit itself was okay and rule out it being coincidental to the speaker issue. Works as intended on the other car I have a hardwire to. So I can include the homelink power no longer working.
Some resolve I had was unplugging Fuse 41, letting it sit out for about 15 minutes, and reinserting it. front speakers came on, but no radar/homelink. After about 3 minutes the speakers returned to the prior no sound state. I know of 2 other E46M3's having this type of issue, and to no resolve. (oddly enough both are ZCP/Nav cars)
Coming to the forums to hopefully find a resolution. Willing to replace the headunit, as it seems the pixels are dying, with an aftermarket unit as the OE does nothing for me now days, however I am not sure that is the gremlin here?
