New brake disc - worried about run out?

Replaced old front discs with new genuine BMW from FCP. When I replaced the right side, I noticed visible ring out/wobbling when spun. Did not happen on the left side. Question is could the rotor be bad from the factory, or will the rotor straighten up when the wheel/tire gets bolted on? Want to know before I use them so I can return them. I have videos of both but can’t figure out how to upload them here. And yes I wire brushed to get the rust out before I put them on. Thanks.

What does the hub face look like? Were the rotor locator bolts secured and true? What do the pads look like? When was the caliper last rebuilt?

Make sure the surface on the wheel hub where the rotor sits is clean and free of corrsion, debris and crud. I'd wire brush it and clean it really well. I apply a light layer of anti-seize so I don't have to wire brush it for the next rotor change.

I’ve heard one or two stories about SHW / genuine rotors having runout issues out of the box.

Everything was straight and true before the rotor change. And the left hand side (new rotor) does not have this issue, just the right. When I put the old rotor back on, it’s straight. Hence my thought that it is the new rotor. I even bolted up the wheel and it made it a little better but still noticeable. I’m going to call FCP tomorrow.

I called FCP, sent them the videos of the rotors spinning … they said if defective they will send me a new one.

It's prob the rotor. I saw another one on Instagram that was bad out of box.

Yes confirmed they are sending me a new one. Interesting as I paid extra for the genuine BMW rotor, would not expect that. FCP has great customer service.

i have a set of short M12x1.5p bolts to torque the rotor up for checking runout. it only matters when the bolts are tight, with the single set screw only, it on occasion cause issues that are not there when bolted up causing faulty readings
