    Anyone ever attend OFast?

Looks like OFast will be at Road America this year. Any of you folks ever attend this event? Thoughts?

I've been to the badger bimmer chapter event a couple of times years ago but that is usually the last weekend of Sep.

Road America is amazing - a fast flowing track in the kettle moraine forest. Quite scenic this time of year. My favorite part is from the kink to T14. Leaves are changing colors and the track is always turning. Elkhart is a pretty cool place to visit for racing history. That area of WI is nice as well. There's a pretty awesome creamery on the way, IIRC it's on US57 or whatever US highway heads north to the track.

The only bad thing is Oct can be dicey. Oct is the changeover month from nice fall to shit winter weather. So it can be dark and dreary. Sep was always the best month IMO.

The track itself - it is hell on brakes. In my E90 M3, I can reach 145mph twice and 130+ mph one more time. Two heaving braking zones are downhill too. Not much run off. STAY OFF the curbs in the morning! Especially the kink. T13 is where people seem to crash. Professional corner workers and staff and I believe they do hot extractions. So you have to see flags! The paddock kind of blows...a lot of grass the last time I was there and it is quite hilly.

The Osthoff is the place to stay. I'm a poor and I lived in Milwaukee so I just drove back and forth.

      Thanks Jae.

I have always wanted to try Road America, but I wondered about October being too late in the year. Maybe an HPDE weekend in September would be better.

I also wonder if the rest of the event is worth it. If anyone has been to OFast, I be interested to hear about it.

It depends on your definition of worth but I hope to be able to make it to the normal annual oktoberfast next year. I think this year being a national event would have more stuff. I met TC Kline there testing his coilovers on an F82 M4. And there is a lot to see at the track, it is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

For me, it is all about the track. I'd rather go on a non-national event year which hasn't had the race in years past so a little more track time.

Yep, if the primary interest is to drive the track, do a different event. Both the student and instructor talent pools get diluted at O'Fast since there will be more people with a lot less experience visiting.

O'Fast is good if you want to bring a wife/girlfriend/both to the track, with all the other activities to keep them entertained.
Personally I go to the track to get away from these people (j/k, sorta)

Oh God no, that was someone else. I go to the track to escape reality, I don't need to bring it with me. 😑

I respect those who bring their spouse to the track but I have no desire to see my wife at the track. She's great and all but no. It works out because she has zero interest or desire to join me at the track.
