A long time ago, somewhere in 2002, BMW invited a group of automotive journalists to try out the new M3 CSL prototype by means of a few laps around the Nürburgring GP circuit.
These prototype press cars featured a different shade of gray, no CSL trunk and the CSL seats upholstered in M-Texture as pointed out once before on here.
One of those cars was chassis JP82063, pictured below.

After this day however, BMW had different plans for chassis JP82063, the S54 CSL engine was subsequently removed to make place for something else!

The 5 liter S62 from the E39 M5! Crazy. You can see the V8 prototype in the video below.
I have had it for a while now, but it is time to move on to other things, so I hereby present, the original S54 CSL engine from chassis JP82063, removed by BMW in 2002 to make place for the S62 V8.
The engine has less than 2000 miles on it, and still has its original oil filter, it was regularly oiled and turned over all these years in storage, absolutely like new inside.
It features a prototype Die Wethje carbon airbox, prototype CSL headers, a prototype dipstick and some other minor differences from the final version.

The engine is for sale, a true 1 of 1 museum piece for any CSL fanatic, or to even put in your car if you are brave enough.
If anyone is seriously interested, send me a DM, international shipping available.
