Bluetooth phone call microphone quality improvement - Eonon?

I have an Eonon head unit installed in my 04 by the previous owner. When I take calls using the Bluetooth to car audio, people say I sound like I am in a stadium (I.e very bad). I'm wondering how much is the head unit VS the microphone/cabin sound setup. Has anyone had good luck with a good microphone setup? I don't know where the microphone is.

I'm honestly more into the mechanical side and less the A/V electronic stuff - so am thinking of dropping the car off at the Best Buy geek squad ans asking them to give me a recommendation. Any thoughts on this?

do you have an external mic wired up or is it using hte mic in the head unit? an external mic should help a ton. sometimes though when you connect an external mic, it doesnt work until you snip the wires on the internal one.

Im trying to figure out how to improve phone call sound quality as well. I'm getting reports of sounding like I'm in a wind tunnel. I have an Alpine headunit with external mic on the sun screen next to the mirror. I recently bought and installed a different mic. It has minimal effect.

I have a feeling this is what my problem is. I got an external mic but nothing changed. I didn't snip any internal mic wires though. Are these wires difficult to get to?

if you have a vert, the best place is on the steering column.
