Porsche Brembo 996 BBK conversion

Funny, I just started getting a squeal when I do medium-strength brake events coming to a stop at low speeds. If I lighten up pressure on the pedal, it goes silent. It's not a "screech" as much as a resonance-sounding kind of wail. I'm not running any piston dampers (I ripped them out, but one caliper still has the things rusted into the caliper pistons) but I believe my pads have the vibration dampers. I'll have to double check.

Does that match what you're experiencing? These calipers aren't on an M3, they're on a 997.2, but that shouldn't change anything.

Yes, that sounds like it’s the same. It also will not squeal when you stop quickly with firm pressure.

Textar oem for street, got hawk DTC-60 for track but I don’t think that’s an option anymore... might have to pick something else.

Thanks!! If I could just cut the squeal by 50% would be fine. Honestly the squeal has prevented me from driving the car.

My rear 996 squealed like a dump truck with ds2500 pads. After a track day all is quiet now.

I would expect the OEM rotors to be higher quality than those ECS ones. Could be wrong though.

So most likely the more aggressive pads honed the rotor surface. That is very interesting, I wonder if the issue is more in the rotor surface vs pad choice? maybe switching to a different/better rotor would be the answer. The cm brackets, copies of rallyroad, were intended for e36 to run 996s with e46 m3 rotors (325mm).

ECS or cm got the hair brained idea to tell people that they could do it on their e46.

The 996 kit on e46 M3 is only for 345mm rotors and you shave off 5.5mm from 996 front calipers.

Having copied the RR design aside, which obviously isn’t something I’d agree with, but since the calipers can be shaved down 12mm, this leaves 3.5mm to be taken out from the bracket, so it doesn’t seem far fetched imho.
