    Valve Clearance after Head Rebuild

    Hi guys,

Put my motor together after a head job and blown head gasket and I'm wondering if these valve clearances are normal after a rebuild? I put the shims at the exact same valve I took it from before the disassembly. Most exhaust valves have smaller clearances and most intake valves have higher clearances than spec. Any input is appreciated before I go ahead and try to do the adjustment.

Clearances will change if the machine shop did a complete valve job. Complete valve job usually requires grinding the valves, cutting new seats and trimming the tip of the valve stems.

I'm aware of that. I just found that mix of clearances very weird.
Will it make any difference to adjust them into the spec range vs. adjusting them into the midpoint of the spec range? I like them to have at exact 0.20 intake and 0.30 exhaust but with that mix of clearances it will be hard to meet that exactly.

Nope, they only need to be in spec.
