Metal Bristles in Oil Filter

First oil change after getting my rod bearings done last year, approximately 2000km on the oil. Filter appears to have metal bristles that are non-magnetic. Any ideas what this could be? The largest example in the photos is not metal, some plastic debris instead.

Only thing that I can think of that has metal strands is the oil pump pickup mesh.

I hate to say but I would remove the pan and inspect. Sucks but better safe than sorry
